Brittany Taschner is pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Brittany works with adults dealing with anxiety, identity, life changes, self-esteem, relationship stress, grief, family conflict, trauma, or emotions that feel hard to manage. She especially values working with LGBTQ+ clients and people who want therapy to feel real, collaborative, and grounded.

With Brittany, therapy feels warm, down-to-earth, and honest. She pulls from person-centered therapy, DBT, family systems, multicultural counseling, trauma-informed care, and a strength-based lens to help clients understand their patterns, build coping skills, and make choices that feel more like their own.

Her work is shaped by the belief that people’s patterns, emotions, and coping skills usually come from somewhere. She values LGBTQ+ affirming and anti-oppressive care, and works to create a space that feels nonjudgmental, collaborative, and genuine. She is especially interested in helping clients feel less shame around their emotions, identities, relationships, and past experiences.

In Brittany’s words, therapy is…

Therapy doesn’t have to be perfect or overly polished to be meaningful. My hope is that clients feel like they can show up authentically, be met with curiosity instead of judgment, and leave with a little more clarity, self-trust, and room to breathe.

We might be a good match if…

  • you tend to overthink, shut down, people-please, or feel like you’re carrying more than you know how to say out loud

  • you’re looking for a queer/lesbian therapist who understands that identity, relationships, family, culture, and the world around you all shape what you bring to therapy

  • you value therapy that is clear, down-to-earth, intentional, and attuned to the bigger picture, with room to be yourself, humor when it fits, and gentle challenges without feeling judged
