Katie Murphy Hemenway is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri. She works with adults of all ages and specializes in neurodivergence, ADHD, parenting, disability and chronic illness, LGBTQIA+, and women.

Katie brings a radical compassion and authentic voice into the counseling room. She partners with her clients to create an empowering space, where we can embrace our true selves, deconstruct oppressive or limiting narratives, and define for ourselves what it is that we truly want and need. Her style is informal, collaborative yet directive, and rooted in Relational Cultural Theory and intersectional approaches.

While you will be the one to define the focus of your work, you will likely find an emergence of themes around getting to know oneself better, breaking down societal expectations, and discovering what truly works for the individual.

In Katie’s words, therapy is…

Therapy is a way to get to know yourself better. It’s a place where you can take a tangled jumble of thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and patterns, and tease them apart to figure out which pieces you want to carry forward and what to leave behind. The meaning is in the making; therapy lets you tap into your inner creative resources as you figure out how to navigate your past, present, and future with authenticity and self-compassion.

We might be a good match if…

  • you want to move past the person you’ve been taught you “should” be to embrace the person you are

  • you are interested in working with themes around neurodivergence, queer identity, or marginalizing experiences

  • you want to build more authentic connective relationships with others
